The game that is financial literacy
The Stock Exchange Game is an educational and social responsibility project that provides a practical, virtual and real-time experience of financial trading.
"The Stock Exchange Game is one of our main social responsibility actions, which we believe is fundamental to helping individuals make informed decisions,” said Francisco Oliveira Fernandes, CEO of Banco Carregosa. This game has been organized by Banco Carregosa, Jornal de Negócios and ISCTE for nearly two decades, and is part of the 13th "The Future of Financial Markets” conference.
In this game, participants have access to the GoBulling electronic trading platform in a simulation environment. As Francisco Oliveira Fernandes pointed out, participants use "a sophisticated multi-market and multi-product trading tool, with more than 40,000 financial instruments and access to the investor support service that Banco Carregosa provides to all its clients”.
Francisco Oliveira Fernandes also highlighted the creation of an academy, a training and knowledge-sharing initiative on "the markets, aimed at our younger clients, including the children and grandchildren of our clients. This academy was very well received, which is why we will be expanding it to Setúbal, Braga, Leiria and Santarém, among other places, in 2025.” Five schools "The Stock Exchange Game is also an educational project, allowing a practical, virtual and real-time experience of financial trading, thus promoting financial literacy among young people,” said Maria João Cortinhal, dean of ISCTE Business.
She stressed that "the modern financial market requires an interdisciplinary approach that integrates technology, innovation and analytical skills”. She added that at ISCTE, "interdisciplinarity and collaboration between the five schools are a reality”, which allows students to "develop a comprehensive vision, crossing areas of knowledge such as technology, sociology, social sciences, management and economics, which are fundamental to facing the challenges of the digital age”.
For Maria João Cortinhal, "at ISCTE, academic excellence and innovation are pillars of our mission and this is reflected in the Business School, which is among the 50 best management schools in Europe, being a pioneer in management education in Portugal with a track record that we are so proud of and which is reflected in the high employability rate.”
