Mariana Mendes Baptista Lopes was born in Porto in 1986.

She graduated in Business Management from Universidade Católica Portuguesa in 2007 and completed her Master’s in International Economics and Management at the School of Economics of Porto.

She began working at Ernst & Young, having joined the audit team dealing with European banks and insurance companies. Later, in 2010 she joined ITAU BBA International Plc, in the risk area, more specifically as liquidity risk analyst. In addition to the activities related to liquidity risk management, she played a central role in the migration of the head-office from Lisbon to London, allowing her to later work in the London office.

In 2012, as part of the launching of an international project within Banco Itaú, she went to New York to implement risk solutions in several entities of the Group in the USA, including the Branch and Broker/Dealer. Until 2015, she focused on the development of a new credit, market and liquidity risk framework for the New York branch and on the management of the relationship with the supervisory entity.

She returned to Porto at the end of 2015 and joined Banco Carregosa’s risk area, taking responsibility for the Risk Department in 2016. In November 2022, she took up office as Director and member of Banco Carregosa’s Executive Committee.
