Follow the US elections with Negócios
Donald Trump or Kamala Harris? It is this Tuesday that the elections are held in the United States, with no polls indicating a clear winner. Joe Biden's early departure from the presidency and Trump's return to the race for the White House make this vote particularly close.
Negócios will follow, up to the minute, all developments on election night - follow our "live blog" for the first results, speeches, market reactions and reporting notes.
But before that, during the day, you can read in Negócios what the two candidates' proposals are for the economy and what the impact of the result will be on stock markets and interest on American debt. Back in Portugal, find out the degree of exposure of national companies to the result of this election.
For a more in-depth reading, remember the work that Negócios has done over the last few days: a portrait of the American economy, which has shown itself to be resilient, an Explainer on how this complex electoral process works, and an analysis of the meaning of postponing the meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, which is expected to decide on new economic stimuli only after the US elections. Also count on a historical analysis, which shows how, in the last 100 years, Republicans have had more victories than Democrats.
You can also read two interviews. One to the former Secretary of State and guest professor at the Catholic University, Bernardo Ivo Cruz, who believes that Europe is not prepared for Donald Trump. And another to the "head of negotiations" at Banco Carregosa, João Queiroz, who says that the US elections have a high capacity to influence the US Federal Reserve.
To learn more about each candidate, read the profiles of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
