Banco Carregosa /SRNOM Award
The 7th edition saw the establishment of the Dr Maria Cândida Rocha e Silva Scientific Merit Award.
The Salão Nobre da Secção Regional Norte da Ordem dos Médicos (SRNOM) hosted the 7th edition of the Banco Carregosa/SRNOM Award ceremony on 3th October at 9pm.


Professor Dr Hélder Novais e Bastos was the winner of this edition of the Banco Carregosa/SRNOM Award.
The project he developed is called “FIREGENS – Reclassification of Fibrotic Interstitial Lung Diseases through Environmental and Genetic Studies”.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Professors Mário Manuel da Silva Leite Sousa and Sofia Viamonte.
The titles of their projects are “Embryological, clinical and neonatal results of 583 treatment cycles with fresh and frozen testicular sperm” and “Impact of a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation programme in cancer survivors with high cardiovascular risk – CORE Study”.


This year also saw the establishment of the Dr Maria Cândida Rocha e Silva Scientific Merit Award, which was awarded to Professor Miguel Mascarenhas Saraiva.
The title of his project is “Artificial intelligence for automatic diagnosis and pleomorphic morphological characterization of malignant biliary strictures using digital cholangioscopy”.
